Public Hearing To Decide Fate Of Mansfield Dog That Bit 6-Year-Old
WBZ-TV - Breaking News, Weather and Sports for Boston, Worcester and New Hampshire found this 3 months ago on boston.cbslocal.com

MANSFIELD, Mass. (AP) ? A dog that allegedly severely bit a 6-year-old boy in Mansfield is going on trial.

Mansfield’s selectmen have voted to hold a public hearing this month to review an investigation by the animal control officer in response to a dangerous dog complaint. The board chairman called it a “mini trial.”

The complaint was filed by Dawn Herbert-Miller, who says her 6-year-old son was bitten on Jan. 3. The boy reportedly suffered injuries to his face and other body parts, requiring surgery and 400 stitches.

The dog’s owners tell The Sun Chronicle they have no comment on the reported attack, but know about the hearing.

Town Manager Bill Ross recommended the hearing take place Feb. 27.

The dog could be ordered confined, banished from town, or even euthanized.
