LYNN (CBS) – Eastern Bank’s headquarters in Lynn was evacuated Monday morning after a fire and explosion rattled the building.
Police told WBZ-TV there was an early report of a transformer exploding which sent heavy black smoke around the Market Street building.
No serious injuries have been reported. Police say one woman fell on a curb as she was leaving the bank.
Everyone inside was moved to North Shore Community College.
There’s no word yet what caused the explosion.
On it’s Facebook page, Eastern Bank said customers may notice some technical difficulties at this time.
“Due to an electrical mishap at our Operations Center there may be sporadic outages to our phone and email services.”
