Brady: ?We Didn?t Earn It; (Ravens) Earned It?
WBZ-TV - Breaking News, Weather and Sports for Boston, Worcester and New Hampshire found this 4 months ago on boston.cbslocal.com

BOSTON (CBS) – Instead of packing for a business trip to New Orleans, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots will soon be packing their lockers.

The Patriots 2012 season came to an end Sunday night with a 28-13 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship.

Quarterback Tom Brady saw it as another lost opportunity to add another Super Bowl to his resume.

“I think being in the situation in the playoffs, it?s always an opportunity lost when you lose because we feel like we have a pretty good team. We just didn’t play well,” a somber Brady said.

The Patriots held a 13-7 lead heading to the locker room at halftime, though they were far from perfect in the game’s first 30 minutes. But the offense didn’t put any points on the board in the second half, and Brady threw two interceptions as the Ravens scored 21-unanswered points.

“We got behind in the second half there and became one-dimensional. We just couldn’t string enough good plays together to get the ball in the end zone,” said Brady. ”We didn’t execute very well. The name of the game is execution and if you don?t execute well against a good team, like I said, you’re not going to come up on the winning end.”

Brady was disappointed in his own performance, but gave the Ravens praise for taking over in the second half.

“You have the opportunity to win the game and we came up short. There?s frustration in that we wish we could have done better,” he said. “But they’re not going to give it to you. We didn’t earn it; they earned it. They played a good game.”

Now, the Patriots will have another off-season to think about what could have been.

“It always comes to a screeching halt. That?s just the way it is,” said Brady. “Only two teams advance and those two teams deserve it. We?ve lost before. It takes awhile to get over.”
