BOSTON (CBS) — You won’t hear any trash talk coming out of the Patriots’ locker room this week in advance of the AFC Championship Game, but that doesn’t mean the locals aren’t having a little bit of fun.
With Ray Lewis announcing a few weeks ago that he’ll be retiring at the conclusion of this postseason, the Ravens linebacker and future Hall of Famer has become a major national story line as Baltimore won its first two playoff games this month. While many football fans in the country may be rooting for Lewis’ career to live on a couple of more weeks for the Super Bowl, folks in New England are hoping to see it come to an end Sunday night in Foxboro.
That much is clear from a billboard that’s popped up around town.
The video board features the bold headline of “Ray’s Retirement Party.” Underneath the words, the billboard has a countdown of days, hours minutes until the party “begins.”
@985TheSportsHub Pats will win this Sunday. Game will be a Ray Lewis retirement party. Countdown is on billboards! http://t.co/S6OA2AFF— CCO_Boston (@MassBillboards) January 16, 2013
