BOSTON (CBS) - Former Congressman Barney Frank says he wants to be interim senator if and when Sen. John Kerry leaves office.
But Governor Deval Patrick says there are other experienced politicians seeking his nod to be interim U.S. senator.
Could the governor opt for someone who is not a politician?
Doug Rubin knows plenty about the merits of non-politicians. He has shepherded the campaigns of Patrick and Sen. Elizabeth Warren, two political neophytes who left veteran competitors in the dust.
And while the likes of Barney Frank would bring experience to the job, Rubin says there are better options.
Some of Rubin’s choices included academics like former M.I.T. President Susan Hockfield, lawyers like former S.J.C Chief Justice Margaret Marshall and business leaders like Bank of American Executive Anne Finucane and Mike Widmer, head of the Mass. Tax Payers Foundation.
