WALTHAM (CBS) – Rescue teams were called in to save a deer Friday morning that had gotten stuck on ice.
Crews showed up at the Cambridge Reservoir around 11 a.m. after getting a report that the deer was stranded out on the ice.
Rescuers in survival suits made their way out onto the icy reservoir and managed to reach the deer.
The deer was loaded into a crate, and was expected to be taken to a local animal hospital to be checked out by veterinarians.

The entire rescue effort lasted around two hours.
The cost of the operation was not immediately known. In the past, officials have said these types of incidents serve as good training exercises for ice rescue crews.
