Bicyclist Killed By Truck On Commonwealth Avenue
WBZ-TV - Breaking News, Weather and Sports for Boston, Worcester and New Hampshire found this 5 months ago on boston.cbslocal.com

BOSTON (CBS) ? A bicyclist was hit and killed by a tractor-trailer on Commonwealth Avenue near the Boston University campus Thursday morning.

It happened just after 8:30 a.m. as the truck was apparently making a right turn onto St. Paul Street near Landry’s Bicycles shop.

Boston police shut down the intersection and a white sheet was placed underneath the New Century Transportation truck.

The rig was operated by Ross Express of Boscawen, New Hampshire.

A company spokesman told WBZ-TV the driver stopped immediately after accident.  He was not hurt.

The victim’s name has not been released. Boston police said he was 23 years old.

No citations have been issued at this point in the investigation.

Four other bicyclists have been killed in the city since June.

A B.U. student died after he was struck by an MBTA bus last month.

Back in September, a cyclist was killed when she was hit by a truck in South Boston.

That happened days after a 63-year-old man was struck and killed riding his bike on Morrissey Boulevard.

The fourth deadly accident happened back in June when a woman was hit while riding a bike on Huntington Avenue.
