The storm is heading toward New England today. This morning, clouds are thickening, and the leading edge of the precipitation is knocking at our doors.  Highs will include a broad spectrum of temperatures between the upper 30s and upper 40s.  The warmest temps will register across southeastern Mass. while the coldest readings will be north and west of Boston. The rain will move into southeastern Mass. throughout the morning, and the rest of the area will have precipitation slowly edging northward throughout the afternoon. The onset of precipitation will be a rain/snow mix from Boston to areas north and west inside 495.  Outside of 495, there will be heavy, wet snow that may accumulate 1-3″ (isolated amounts of 4″), including the cities of Worcester, Fitchburg, Leominster, Keene, and Jaffrey.  The snow may stick in some of the grassy surfaces and sidewalks, but the road surfaces should be just wet. Rainfall amounts will be add up to 1-2″ for those neighborhoods from Boston to southeastern Mass. which remain all rain during the tenure of this weather event.  The latest advisories/watches/warnings …

*Coastal Flood Advisory for east-facing beaches — The main concern is the high tide around 5pm this evening with potential for minor coastal flooding, storm surge of 1-3 feet, and beach erosion.

*High Wind Warnings are in effect for the South Coast, Cape Cod, and the Islands with gusts reaching 40-60mph. Wind Advisories are in place  for the rest of the coastline extending to the 495 corridor with gusts reaching 30-50 mph.

*Winter Weather Advisories have been issued for cities and towns outside of 495.  These neighborhoods have the potential of receiving 1-3″ of snow (isolated 4″ pockets) from this evening through tomorrow morning. Some snowflakes may mix in initially for areas from Boston to points north and west within the 95 corridor.

The precipitation will fall as mostly scattered rain on Thursday as the winds begin to back down.  There may be a rain/snow mix early in the morning for neighborhoods far north and west.  Highs will be on the cool side again in the 40s.

Friday will be the beginning of a dry stretch that will lead into a beautiful Veterans Day weekend.  Friday will be a bright, sunshiny day with highs returning near 50F.

Veterans Day weekend will be a nice one! Saturday will be partly cloudy to partly sunny with highs in the lower 50s, while Veterans Day Sunday will be sunnier and warmer in the lower 60s.
