Game of the week: Redskins 31, Ravens 28 - The Battle of the Beltway lived up to all of it's hype as these two teams battled down to the very last seconds. The game never got to any lead more than 8 as the two kept trading points. The Ravens scored a go ahead touchdown with just under 4 minutes giving them the 28-20 lead. RG3 came all the way down the field but got hurt and rookie 4th round draft pick Kirk Cousins came in and orchastrated a touchdown drive and successful two point conversion with only 29 seconds left. The Redskins were able to kick a field goal for the win in overtime in what was a very dramatic finish. The Skins now at 7-6 have put themselves in the discussion for a wildcard birth
Surprise result of the week: Chargers defeat Steelers - This one rally surprised me because the Steelers had Big Ben Roethlisberger return to the lineup and they got solid production out of him and Mike Wallace who has disappeared the past two weeks with Ben out. The Defense was a real disappoitment especially since the Chargers have failed to make any noise this season. Philip Rivers probably had his best game of the season throwing for 200 yards and 3 touchdowns. Most importantly no interceptions which has plagued him. The Steelers were fortunate the Bengals lost so they still hold a playoff spot but the defense needs to improve a lot before they are ready to talk playoffs.
Disappointing performance of the week: Chicago Bears - I was disappointed with the Bears who have all of the sudden came back to reality. The Bears defense which has been dominate all season got torn apart by Adrian Peterson. Peterson rushed for 134 yards on 31 carries and two touchdowns. The Bears are in danger of missing the playoffs after their fast start and now Jay Cutler might be out with another consussion.
Fantasy star of the week: Seahawks D/ST - There were plenty of options this week but the Seahawks defense/special teams gets the nod here. They were a very good option going up against Arizona this week but nobody could hav expected them to force 4 interceptions and 4 fumbles and score on two of them. they also sacked Arizona quarterbacks three times.
Fantasy surprise of the week: Ryan Wilson - Giants: Wilson was spectacular on Sunday rushing 13 times for 100 yards and two touchdowns. Wilson also returned a kickoff for a touchdown so depending on what type of league you are in he may have gotten you more points. Wilson will earn more carries especially with Andre Brown being out.
Power 5:
5) San Francisco 49ers (9-3-1): Kolin Kaepernick was solid once again in their win over the the Dolphins. You have to love the abilty for the quarterback to run the football as he gives them an added dimension.
4) New England Patriots (9-3): The Pats are playing the Texans right now and if they can win that would set up another huge game with the 49ers next week. The Pats are peaking at the right time.
3) Atlanta Falcons (11-2): The Falcons have not looked good lately and the most recent loss to the Panthers is another indicator that this team has a lot of work to do. They have all the talent in the world but need to put togehter a complete game.
2) Denver Broncos (10-3): Winner of 8 straight the Broncos are playing great football right now and if they can get a home game or two in the playoffs they will be tough to beat.
1) Houston Texans (11-1): Currently taking on the Patriots. A win in Foxboro will solidify themselves as the best team in football.
